Houston business portrait photographer, Michael Carr, offers a variety of office environment backgrounds for your business portraits here in our studio. You can come to our studio and achieve the look of an office with a view, a light and bright office setting, or even greenery. Our office environment background is the perfect option for the busy professional that works remotely or their office does not have the space for an on location session. Several companies also opt for this background option if executives work all over the US and they want a cohesive look among all the executives on the bio pages.
The office environment look is a great choice if you want your image to look different and a step above the others. You have the option for a head and shoulder, ¾ length session or a combo of the two. Many C-level executives like to have the option to change clothing or outfits when opting for a multiple look session.
Consult: Call us to discuss which background appeals to you: classic, on location or the office environment background. We will discuss the number of looks you are wanting with your session and the background you are wanting as well.
Clothing: We will consult with you on your attire for your business portrait. A good rule of thumb is to stick to timeless and classic clothing that you feel confident in. We always recommend that clients bring with them several outfits to choose from. We can look at your wardrobe with you and select the best outfit for your portrait. Solid colored clothing is always best for a portrait. For men, you can add a pop of color with a tie or a pocket square. For the ladies a colored shell is an option with jewelry as an accent to the overall portrait. We have clothing tips on our site here. For 3/4 length portraits we recommend that you try on your clothes and make sure they fit properly before your session. If your clothes do not fit well, or if they are snug, it will show in your portrait. Make sure you are confident in the attire you select and that all clothing is pressed. For ladies, we have a nearby partner salon that can take care of your hair and makeup. Please inquire about this before your session.
After Your Session:
At the conclusion of your business portrait session, we will review all the images captured and help you with final image selections. Our studio is centrally located in The Galleria area, 77057, and between three major Houston freeways: I-10, 610, and 59. If you would like to discuss your business portrait or book your session, please call the studio at 713-461-2862 and we can help you.
In today’s market, corporate leaders are looking for ways to brand themselves and market their services in a different manner than their competition. Executive portraiture can help you place a cutting edge on your services vs your competitor and ultimately determine who ends up getting the phone call. Your corporate image speaks volumes about you and your business. In a digital age where searching for services is occurring during all hours of the day, it is key to have your best image forward at all times. This theory applies to not only websites, but also social media apps such as LinkedIn, professional trade sites, and your marketing kit collateral.
A headshot is not just a headshot. It is your personal branding.
Every industry and corporate position has a unique look and persona for their business portrait. A prime example of this is that a trial attorney would not be photographed in the same manner as a marketing representative.
Technology is changing daily. When creating or updating your online presence you need to consider how your personal branding image can enhance your website and professional bio. People want to connect with people who are industry professionals and you also need to be viewed as someone they can trust.

Regardless of the line of work you are in, if you are promoting yourself, a great professional business headshot is a necessity. A professional headshot is a powerful tool for making people remember you. It is very much to your advantage to provide a headshot that people can identify with and remember you by. A professional business headshot is more than just a great photo taken by a friend with an I-Phone or a hobbyist type camera. If you are using your headshot for business applications, then hire a professional photographer to capture and create a professional business headshot for you.
There are many careers that can benefit from a polished, professional headshot. Doctors, lawyers, corporate executives, realtors, oil and gas professionals, financial investors and news anchors almost always require a professional headshot.
If your clients or customers see you, then a professional headshot will help plant your face more firmly in their mind. Of course, it is important that the headshot is of the highest quality. Anyone can post a picture of themselves on an online bio page, but if it does not convey the proper image, then it will not be a benefit in the long run. Creating a great headshot may seem simple, but like so many things, the little details matter.
Thanks to the internet, finding a great professional business portrait photographer is much easier than it used to be. You should be able to find a wide assortment of professional headshot photographers just by searching for “headshots” in your favorite search engine.
Be aware that due to the recent improvements and availability of inexpensive digital photography equipment, there are a lot more people offering photography services that are not really up to professional standards. Take your time and do your research!
There are many sites you can find that will list headshot photographers in your area, but the most important thing is to find someone whose work you like. Look at a variety of headshot portfolios until you’re satisfied. Also, ask other business associates or professionals for a referral and then look at that photographer’s online portfolio. After you have narrowed down to a few photographers to consider, the next step would be to contact the studio either by phone or email and see who is a good match for you.

Contemporary Men’s Portrait Photography: Feel Empowered By Your Own Image
In today’s digital world, we rely less on face to face introductions and focus more on LinkedIn profiles and website business headshots. People want to do business with people they trust and connect with.
Michael Carr, a Contemporary Portrait Photographer in Houston, photographs business professionals, entrepreneurs, physicians, and public figures who want magazine-quality portraits for their website, social media platforms, and marketing collateral to promote their business and control their digital narrative.
Most men are uncomfortable in front of the camera or dislike photographs of themselves. Imagine, a portrait session where you feel empowered by your own image.
Our Contemporary Men’s Portrait Photography sessions are designed to make you look natural, masculine, and confident in front of the camera. Here are a few ways we guide you through the photography session to make you look your best.
1. Start with a Consultation
Each Men’s Contemporary Portrait session begins with a consultation to review your session goals, where the images will be used for marketing collateral, and what format and sizes are required for final images.
2. Decide What to Wear to Your Men’s Contemporary Photography Session
Men’s Contemporary Photography sessions focus on you. Your clothing should reflect your professional style and the business image you want to deliver as part of your personal brand. For men, we suggest the following attire:
The corporate look is a suit jacket, dress shirt, and tie.
A casual business look is often a jacket and open dress shirt, or dress shirt on its own.
For a no-jacket casual look, bring several colored shirts – ideally darker than your skin tone.
For photography purposes, a white dress shirt by itself is not recommended for everyone. However, a white dress shirt underneath a sports coat photographs well on most men.
If you are not sure, feel free to bring a few different jackets, shirt colors and ties so we can assist you with selections.
If you tend to have a 5 o’clock shadow in the afternoon, either schedule your session for a morning time slot or plan on shaving before your session if it is in the afternoon.
3. Feel at Ease During Your Men’s Contemporary Portrait Session
A traditional headshot may focus on matching a corporate intent or require a generic lighting style that is consistent for most type of subjects. For Men’s Contemporary Portrait sessions, Houston photographer, Michael Carr uses a mixture of dramatically lit photographs using solid backgrounds to bring focus to the subject. Some sessions include elements of simple furnishings to create a more casual portrait image.
To make clients feel at ease during the portrait session, Michael Carr directs each client on body language and posing techniques. In addition, our Houston-based photography studio offers on-set viewing of your session images as they are being captured. This will enhance your portrait session by viewing captured images in real time while on set. When a client sees a preview of their contemporary images, it makes them feel confident in front of the camera.
4. Design Your Men’s Contemporary Portraiture Collection
At the end of your portrait session, you will review your images and make your selection for your Men’s Contemporary Portraiture Collection. Our men’s portrait sessions are time efficient and typically completed within 45 minutes. A digital artist will edit your final images in digital enhancement software to soften puffiness under the eyes, minimize smile lines and refine the portrait.
From the final images, clients select a collection of custom framed prints to display in their office, home, and to give as gifts to loved ones.
5. Strengthen Your Brand with Your Men’s Contemporary Portraits
Michael Carr Photography Men’s Contemporary Portraits feature editorial and lifestyle portraits to enhance your visual persona, connect with your audience, and communicate your story. By using your men’s portrait across all your social platforms and marketing collateral, you will elevate your personal branding to match your vision.
